Effects of deficiency: Early stage symptoms include weight loss, anorexia, confusion, short term memory loss, other mental signs and symptoms, muscle weakness, cardiovascular symptoms (enlarged heart). Beriberi. Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome (seen in chronic alcoholics, rapidly progressing haemotological malignancies, drug use disorders, or AIDS).
B2 Vitamin (Riboflavin5 Monophosphate) 5mg. Riboflavin deficiency is extremely rare in developed counties. Adequate intake can reduce the frequency and severity of migraines.
B2 deficiency causes: May be caused by thyroid hormone insufficiency.
Symptoms of 2 deficiency include: Skin disorders, sore throat, itchy, red eyes, hyperemia and edema of the mouth and throat, angular stomatitis, cheilosis, hair loss, hormone insufficiency, degeneration of the liver and nervous system. Anaemia and cataracts can develop if B2 deficiency is severe and prolonged.
Groups at risk of deficiency include: Vegetarian athletes, pregnant and lactating women who rarely consume meats or animal products, vegans, people who consume small amounts of milk, people with Infantile Brown-Vialetto Laere syndrome (SLC52A3 gene mutation). This is a neurological disorder that can begin at any age, have riboflavin deficiency and is associated with deafness, bulbar palsy and respiratory problems
B3 - Nicotinamide 55mg
Effects of deficiency: Dermatitis, glossitis, weight loss, diarrhoea, dementia and depression.
B6 (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) 51mg. Vitamin. Most important vitamin for amino acid metabolism. May help to relive insomnia. Role in HEME synthesis.
Causes of deficiency: Alcoholism, malabsorption, malignancies, total parental nutrition (TPN).
Effects of deficiency: Microcytic hypochronic anaemia (similar to iron deficiency and lead poisoning). Risk factor in devleoping coronary artery disease. Nervousness, insomnia, skin eruptions, nervousness, loss of muscular control, anaemia, dermatitis, hair loss, slow learning, arm and leg cramps, water retention.
Taurine 751mg. Antioxidant. Improves glucose tolerance, insulin utilisation, and decreases serum cholesterol. Prevents cell membrane damage. Energy booster. Boosts physical performance by helping the flow of glucose to the muscles. Popular amongst body builders as supports the growth of muscle mass when training.
Levo-Carnitine 500mg. Found in nearly all cells in the body. Plays a critical role in energy production.Omega 3 fatty acids improves cartinine utilisation. Provides energy to muscles and heart.May improve mental function and reduce deterioration in older adults with mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease. Increases peak walking distance in patients with claudication.
Secondary causes of deficiency: Chronic renal failure, or use of certain antibiotics.
L-Lysine 185mg. An essential amino acid. Building blocks for protein. Important for proper growth, plays an essential role in the production of carnitine. Appears to help the body absorb calcium. Plays an important role in the formation of collagen. May help prevent bone loss. May help recovery of muscle tissue, following endurance exercise. Athletes, burn patients, and vegans who do not eat beans may need more lysine.
Effects of deficiency: Fatigue, nausea, dizziness, loss of appetitie, agitation, slow growth, bloodshot eyes, anaemia, reproductive disorders.
N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) 155mg. Body converts NAC into cysteine and then into glutathione, a powerful antioxidant known as the master antioxidant. Glutathione neutralises free radicals that can cause wrinkles, and also helps to detoxify the liver, the health of which is essential for clear skin. NAC can help prevent side effects caused by drug reactions and toxic chemicals, and helps break down mucus in the body. It seems to have benefits in treating some respiratory conditions such as COPD and bronchitis. Increases intracellular Glutathione. Antidote for acetaminophen poisoning to help prevent or reduce liver and kidney damage (hospital use only).
L-Carnosine 102mg. A dipeptide molecule. Free radical scavenger and a natural antioxidant. Formed from the binding of amino acids alanine and histamine.
L-Arginine 100mg. Amino acid. Used for the biosynthesis of proteins. Helps burn fat and enhances formation of muscles mass. Can improve weight loss and fat shedding when combined with a health diet and exercise. Helps body use accumulated fats as a source of energy. Supplementation helps speed up fat burning process when used in conjunction with diet and exercise. When combined with Orthinine, improves athletic performance such as speed, stenght, and power in male weight lifters, aswell as burning belly fat when cutting for competuions. Plays an important role in cell division, healing of wounds, removing amonia from the body, immune function, and the grease of hormones. IV use reduces blood presurre in those with hypertension.
Dexpanthenol 51mg
Zinc Gluconate 38mg. Trace metal. Helps to boost immune system. Helps to boost metabolism. Plays an important function in hair tissue growth and repair. Promotes wound healing. Regulates immune function. Serves as a cofactor for numerous antioxidant enzymes, and is necessary for protein synthesis and the processing of collagen.
Effects of deficiency: Zinc deficiency depresses immune function. In severe cases, zinc deficiency causes hair loss, diarrhoea delayed sexual maturation, impotence, hypogonadism in males, and eye and skin lesions.
Groups at Risk of Zinc Deficiency: Those with gastrointestinal disorders, vegetarians, pregnant and lactating women, people with sickle cell disease, and alcoholics.
Calcium Chloride-Dihydrate 23mg. Mineral. Required for vascular contraction and vasodilation, muscle function, nerve transmission, intracellular signalling and hormonal secretion.
Causes of calcium deficiency / inadequacy: Postmenapausal women, the 'female athlete triad' (a combination of disordered eating, amenrrohea, and osteoporosis), lactose intolerance and / or milk allergy, vegetarians and vegans, Low calcium levels (hypocalcaemia) results primarily from medical problems or treatments, including renal failure, surgical removal of the stomach, and use of certain medications (such as diuretics).
Effects of deficiency: Includes numbness and tingling in the fingers, muscle cramps, convulsions, lethargy, poor appetite, and abnormal heart rhythms - which can lead to death.
Risks of too high calcium intake: Kidney stones, renal insufficiency, increased risk of prostate cancer, constipation.
Groups at risk of magensium deficiency include: People with gastro-intestinal diseases, type 2 diabetics, alcoholics, older adults, migraine sufferers.
Magnesium Chloride-Hexahydrate 19mg. Cation. Plays an important role in functions of the body.
Causes of magnesium deficiency: Magnesium deficiency and hypomagnesaemia can result from a variety of causes including gastrointestinal and renal losses.
Symptoms of magnesium deficiency: Magnesium deficiency can cause a wide variety of features including hypocalcaemia, hypokalaemia and cardiac and neurological manifestations. Symptoms include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and weakness. As magnesium deficiency worsens, numbness, tingling, muscle contractions and cramps, seizures, personality changes, abnormal heart rhythms, and coronary spasms can occur. Chronic low magnesium state has been associated with chronic alcoholism and a number of chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease, and osteoporosis Therapeutic uses of magnesium include asthma, myocardial infarction, and pre-eclampsia.
Folic Acid 11mg. A water soluble B vitamin. Responsible for healthy cell growth. Improves hair and nail growth. Can help with weight loss in combination with B-vitamins and exercise. Promotes brain health. Functions as a co-enzyme in DNA and RNA synthesis and amino acid metabolism.
Deficiency: Isolated folate deficiency is uncommon, and usually coexists with other nutrient deficiencies because of it's strong association with poor diet, alcoholism, and malabsorption disorders.
Risks of deficiency: Alcoholism, poor diet, malabsorption (rare), women of childbearing age, pregnancy.
Effects of deficiency: Megaloblastic anaemia, symptoms of which are difficulty concentrating, irritability, fatigue, weakness, headache, palpitations, shortness of breath. Other effects of folate deficiency include sores and shallow ulcerations in the mouth, changes in skin, hair, and fingernail pigmentation, and elevated blood levels of homocysteine.Low folate levels has been linked to depression, and poor response to antidepressant medication. Women with insufficient folate intake are at risk of giving birth to infants with neural tube defects, although the mechanism for this is unknown. Inadeqaute maternal folate status has also been associated with low infant birth weight, preterm delivery, and fetal growth retardation.

YOUTHFUL, SMOOTHER SKIN
Botox is used to completely rejuvenate and refresh the upper part of the face, and is among one of our most popular treatments. Treatment areas include lines across the forehead, lines in between the eyebrows (frown lines, otherwise known as '11's'), and lines and wrinkles around the eyes (crows feet). Other areas that can be treated with botox include: bunny lines; brow lift; smokers lines; a downturned mouth; gummy smile; orange peel chin; eyebrow lift; the jowls and the neck (Nefertiti lift); jaw slimming; V shape face; and to treat teeth grinding and migraines.
We specialise in botox and baby botox treatments, so whether you are looking for a natural look, or wish to be 'frozen', we titrate the treatment to you.
NEFERTITI NECK LIFT
A Nefertiti lift is a botox treatment for neck cords (platysmas bands) and / or mild jowls. It is so called after the Egyptian Queen - Queen Nefertiti - who was renowned for her sharp jawline and elegant, youthful neck.
A Nefertiti lift is used to tighten mild jowls, soften the appearance of neck cords, and smooth horizontal neck lines - resulting in a smoother, tighter, and more contoured neck and jawline.
JAWLINE SLIMMING
CREATE THE PERFECT V SHAPE FACE
A square, 'masculine' jaw shape is often the result of enlarged / strong masseter muscles (the muscles we use when we chew). Strategically injecting botox into the masseter muscle results in a slimmer, more feminine, more oval, V shaped face. Botox for a slimmer face, injected into the jaw, can also help with teeth grinding (bruxism).
EXCESSIVE SWEATING
GET RID OF UNDERARM SWEATING
Excessive sweating, otherwise known as hyperhidrosis, is a common problem that can have negative effects on ones confidence. Botox, injected in micro-injections into the underarm area can resolve the problem, preventing excessive sweating by blocking the glands that create the sweat.
GUMMY SMILE TREATMENT
When some people smile, they may feel they show too much of their gums– often described as a ‘gummy smile’. As this is often caused by a hyperactive muscle which is responsible for raising the upper lip, this is very quickly, simply, and effectively corrected by botox.
Occasionally, the gummy smile may be further enhanced by a thin upper lip, in which case lip fillers may also be helpful.
LIP FLIP
A lip flip involves placing a small amount of botox to effectively 'flip' the top lip and make it appear more visible. This is a very similar treatment to a gummy smile, and results in a subtle increase in volume of the top lip. The subtle, final result is not as long lasting or as noticeable as lip fillers.
DOWNTURNED MOUTH
Although a 'downturned mouth' is often caused by volume loss and shift of the tissues and therefore most commonly treated with dermal fillers, sometimes it can be caused by a strong muscle at the corners of the mouth, the depressor anguli oris (DAO). Botox injections into this muscle will raise the corners of the mouth into a more neutral position, but will not 'turn up' the corners of the mouth as dermal filler can. Botox in this area can also be used at the same time as marionette lines treatment
ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTION FAQ'S
WHAT ARE ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS?
Anti-wrinkle injections are BOTOX (B0Tulinum TOXin TYPE A) injections.
WHAT BRAND DO YOU USE?
We use AZZALURE in clinic. This is botulinum toxin type A, manufactured by Galderma.
WHAT ARE ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS USED FOR?
Anti-wrinkle injections are commonly used cosmetically to treat fine, moderate, and severe lines and wrinkles on the face. BOTOX is also used for many medical ailments, such as blepharospasm, migraines and excessive sweating. The most common cosmetic / medical aesthetic uses are to treat:
- Frown lines
- Forehead lines
- Crows Feet
With advanced uses treating:
- Gummy Smile
- Downturned mouth
- Creating a lip flip
- Orange-peel / dimpled chin
- Teeth Grinding
- Jaw slimming / V-shape face
- Nefertiti lift (neck cords and / or jowl area)
- Bunny lines
- Excessive Sweating
- Brow lift
HOW DO ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS WORK?
Essentially, the toxin stops the nerves from talking to the muscle, resulting in lesser movement and therefore smoothing and preventing lines and wrinkles.
HOW SOON WILL I SEE RESULTS?
BOTOX typically starts to work within 3 - 10 days, with full results at 14 days.
HOW LONG DO THE EFFECTS OF ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS LAST?
The smoothing effects of anti-wrinkle injections typically last between 3-4 months. However, staying on top of your BOTOX injections helps to improve the skin and muscle tone, so over time many people find that they can go longer between treatments.
HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?
Around 10 minutes.
IS THE PROCEDURE ITSELF PAINFUL?
Not at all.
ARE THE RESULTS INSTANT?
No. Anti-wrinkle injections start to work within 3-10, with full effects seen at 14 days.
WHERE IS THE TREATMENT PERFORMED?
We provide BOTOX injections in Cardiff.
HOW MANY 'AREAS' DO I NEED? WHAT IS AN 'AREA'?
Anti-wrinkle injections are typically used to treat 'areas': these are the frown lines (11's), expression lines (forehead), and crows feet (eye wrinkles). Each of these are 'one' area', and the most common amongst our clients are these typical three areas at once. However, which areas you have treated are completely up to you. Anti-wrinkle injections can also be used to treat 'orange-peel' chin, 'bunny lines', and provide an eyebrow lift - amongst others.
IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD - OR SHOULDN'T DO - PRIOR TO THE TREATMENT?
We advise you not to drink alcohol or take Ibuprofen within the preceding 24hours of your appointment, as this can increase the risk of bruising.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY TREATMENT?
Not much! Immediately following injection, the treated areas may be slightly pink and / or 'bumpy' for 5 - 10 minutes. Then it's just a case of waiting for it all to kick in!
IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD OR SHOULDN'T DO AFTER HAVING BOTOX?
Do not touch the injected areas following your treatment. Do not massage the treated areas. Do not wear make-up for an hour (ideally six hours) following treatment. Keep moving the muscles that have been injected for around one hour after treatment as this helps the BOTOX to settle into the muscles (in other words, just move your face as normal!).
Anti-wrinkle injections really are a treatment you can have in your lunch break and return to work straight away, there really is no down time at all!
WHAT ABOUT ANY RISKS?
Anti-wrinkle injections are very safe when injected by experienced medical professionals (we have undertaken hundreds of anti-wrinkle injections and actually provide training to medical professionals - including doctors, nurses, midwives and pharmacists). The main risks associated with botox are associated with the injections themselves - that is, pinprick redness, pinprick bleeding (both of which resolve during the treatment), possible small transitory bumps immediately afterwards (which go within 5-10 minutes), and a small risk of pinprick bruising. There is a risk of dropping the eyebrow, raising the eyebrow, or dropping the eyelid - however, rest assured these are not only very rare when you are treated by a SKILLED MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL, but are also correctable.
ARE THERE ANY PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS?
You cannot have anti-wrinkle injections if:
You are pregnant
You are breastfeeding
You are taking certain antibiotics
You have any chronic muscle or nerve conditions, such as Eaton Lambert syndrome, myasthenia gravis, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
You have any sensitivity to any of the product excipients - human albumin or lactose monohydrate
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
Anti-wrinkle injections are prescription only, which means you if this is your first visit to us you MUST have a consultation at least a day before the anti-wrinkle injections. This can be done either remotely (over the telephone due to current COVID guidance and regulations) or face to face in clinic. This is to ensure product safety and suitability for YOU. Once you have been seen and treated with anti-wrinkle injections at least once, you are able to simply book and be treated without the need for any further, separate consultation.
