JETTISON THOSE JOWLS
WHAT ARE JOWLS?
The term jowls is used to describe the lower part of a persons cheek / jaw that has become fleshy and / or saggy.
Jowls tend to become noticeable after the age of 40 years, and tend to become more noticeable over time.
WHAT CAUSES JOWLS?
The development of visible jowls is caused by the ageing process.
Age-related changes, such as atrophic changes in the skin, skeletal muscle, subcutaneous tissue, and the shifting of fat pads from their original compartments due to gravity all contribute to the development of jowls. Loss of elastin and collagen also reduces the skins elasticity and tone.
HOW CAN THEY BE TREATED?
DERMAL FILLERS can be used with excellent results to create the appearance of a more defined jawline, helping to minimise and / or erase the appearance of jowls. Results last 6 - 9 months.
Another fantastic option for reducing the appearance of jowls is RADIESSE. Placement of RADIESSE into an area of the face known as the 'prejowl sulcus' (hollowing on either side of the chin that accentuate the appearance of jowls) can greatly reduce and even erase the appearance of jowls. The results of RADIESSE last 12 - 18 months.
If the jowls are full of fat, another option is to get rid of the fat with fat dissolving injections (DESOFACE). The results of this treatment is permanent.
Depending on the extent of the jowls, a combination approach of one or more treatments may be recommended to achieve the best possible result.
