MOUNJARO

Discover Mounjaro (also know as Zepbound), an innovative treatment designed to support your weight management goals and foster a healthier lifestyle. Sanctioned by health regulatory bodies and recommended by medical experts, Mounjaro represents more than just medication—it's a stride towards better health.

Clinical trials have demonstrated that Mounjaro effectively promotes considerable weight loss when integrated with a low-calorie diet and regular exercise. Patients can lose up to 25% of their body weight overall. Research shows that users often see significant decreases in body weight, which is instrumental in boosting overall wellness and lowering the risk of diseases associated with obesity.

Mounjaro has been approved for use in people who are overweight or have obesity. Research has shown that its active ingredient, tirzepatide, may lead to greater weight loss compared to semaglutide, which is found in Wegovy.

WHAT IS MOUNJARO?

Mounjaro is a prescribed, licensed injectable medication used as part of a weight management program. It is appropriate for adults over the age of 18 with obesity, either with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher without associated medical problems, or for adults with at least one weight-related condition (such as sleep apnea, diabetes, high blood pressure), and a BMI of at least 27.

Mounjaro functions in conjunction with lifestyle modifications, which may include dietary changes, increased physical activity, and/or surgery.

Mounjaro is NOT suitable for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or actively trying to conceive. Certain individuals may not be suitable for this treatment. Please refer to our FAQ's below for complete information.

MOUNJARO DOSING SCHEDULE

DESIGNED FOR EASE

MOUNJARODOSING.jpg

Mounjaro is available in six different strengths. The initial dose is 2.5 mg, administered weekly for one month. Each dosage is color-coded and delivered in a pen that contains four doses, sufficient for four weeks. Every four weeks, you increase your dosage gradually until you reach the maintenance dose of 15 mg. Mounjaro is approved for long-term usage and can be continued as long as it provides benefits—such as weight loss and maintenance—without causing severe side effects.

HOW DOES MOUNJARO COMPARE TO OTHER WEIGHT LOSS INJECTABLES?

MOUNJARO VERSUS WEGOVY

Mounjaro and WeGovyare both weight management medications that function similarly by mimicking the GLP-1 hormone, yet they are formulated with distinct active ingredients.

Mounjaror contains tirzepatide, while WeGovy includes semaglutide.

Mounjaro® contains an active ingredient known as tirzepatide, which targets two hormonal receptors—GIP and GLP-1. By mimicking these hormones, it helps suppress appetite, regulate blood sugar, and slow down the rate at which food exits the stomach, all of which contribute to weight loss.

On the other hand, the active ingredient in Wegovy® is semaglutide. It functions by imitating the GLP-1 receptor, leading to similar effects as mentioned above. However, unlike tirzepatide, semaglutide does not affect the GIP receptor.

Overall, while both medications provide effective pathways to weight management,  Mounjaro has been shown to have  superior efficacy to WeGovy.

CAN I SWITCH FROM WEGOVY TO MOUNJARO?

Screenshot 2024-04-16 at 12.41.12.png

While the data indicates that Mounjaro® is more effective, this doesn't automatically suggest you should switch medications without careful consideration.

If you have been using Wegovy® for a while and are managing the side effects well, continuing with Wegovy® might be beneficial, particularly if it's yielding positive results. If you are considering a switch and have been prescribed by Sebastian Rose Medical Aesthetics,, please reach out to us for personalised guidance.

If you are not currently our patient, we can assist in facilitating the switch to Mounjaro® (if clinically appropriate) or continue supporting your treatment with Wegovy®. Additionally, a weight loss consultation will be required to proceed.

MOUNJARO FAQ'S

WHAT IS MOUNJARO?

Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) is a weekly injectable treatment designed for adults looking to lose weight. It is particularly effective for individuals with high body mass indexes (BMIs). Containing the active ingredient tirzepatide, Mounjaro® should be used in conjunction with healthy lifestyle adjustments, including increased physical activity and a calorie-reduced diet. Mounjaro® is also marketed under the name Zepbound. Unlike WeGovy, it is not yet recommended by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) for weight loss management.

HOW DOES MOUNJARO WORK?

The active ingredient, tirzepatide, targets two hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1. By mimicking these naturally occurring hormones, tirzepatide suppresses appetite, enhances blood sugar regulation, and slows the rate at which food exits the stomach. These effects collectively contribute to weight loss.

IS MOUNJARO LICENSED FOR WEIGHT LOSS?

Yes. Unlike Ozempic which is not licensed for weight loss, Mounjaro is licensed as a weight loss injectable treatment.

WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE MOUNJARO?

Mounjaro has demonstrated superior effects in clinical studies and clinical trials, and has demonstrated the highest level of weight loss in patients compared to other weight loss injectables or placebo.

Mounjaro is convenient, requiring only a once weekly injection.

HOW LONG DOES MOUNJARO TAKE TO START WORKING?

Mounjaro starts to work straight away, and you ought to start feeling fuller after a few weeks. However, everyone responds to medicines in different ways, so there is not a set time for when you can expect to start to seeing results. It may take several weeks before the full appetite suppressant effects are noted. If you do not see any results within 6 weeks of taking Mounjaro, your medical practitioner may want to try an alternative treatment.

Clinical trials indicate that when used alongside physical activity, diet, and behavioural support, Mounjaro  patient's can achieve up to a 25% reduction in their body weight after one year.
