Anti-Wrinkle Injections & Botox Cardiff — What We Offer

Botulinum toxin is one of the most researched, clinically proven treatments in medical aesthetics — and when administered correctly, by the right hands, with the right products, the results speak for themselves.

At Sebastian Rose Medical Aesthetics in Cardiff, we use only MHRA-licensed botulinum toxin formulations, chosen for their safety profile, diffusion characteristics and clinical track record. Our primary formulations are Azzalure and Alluzience — both premium Galderma products — selected above other market options because our clinical experience shows they consistently deliver superior results. We also offer Bocouture (Merz) for clients who have developed antibodies to other formulations, and can provide any other MHRA-licensed brand on request.

We do not use Dysport or Xeomin. These are not licensed for aesthetic use in the UK and should not be offered in cosmetic settings.

We also do not currently offer Relfydess — a newly licensed product we are monitoring closely, but one for which real-world data is not yet sufficient to meet our clinical standards. You can read our blog post on this by clicking here.

Our Botox treatments range from classic anti-wrinkle injections to advanced medical applications including Alluzience for extended six-month results, Hayfever Botox (Aller-Tox) for seasonal allergy relief, Microtox for Korean glass skin, and specialist treatments for hyperhidrosis, bruxism, blepharospasm, migraines and more.

Every treatment at Sebastian Rose is medically led. A prescription consultation is required before your first botulinum toxin treatment — a legal requirement introduced in June 2025 — which we carry out as a matter of course. We will never administer a prescription treatment without one.

hayfeverbotox.jpg

Aller-Tox uses botulinum toxin to treat hay fever symptoms at the source, blocking nasal gland overactivity for months of allergy relief without tablets or sprays.

Hay fever ruins spring for millions of people in the UK. Antihistamines cause drowsiness. Nasal sprays require daily use. Neither addresses the underlying mechanism causing your symptoms.

Aller-Tox uses botulinum toxin — the same clinically proven molecule used in anti-wrinkle treatment — injected into specific sites within the nasal passages to interrupt the neurological and glandular processes that drive allergic rhinitis symptoms. No daily tablet. No drowsiness. One appointment that typically covers the entire hay fever season.

Available at Sebastian Rose all year round. Consultation required at least 48 hours before treatment. Book early — appointments fill quickly

Tired of frequent Botox appointments? Alluzience® delivers extended results lasting up to 6+ months with the same natural, smooth finish - giving you more time between treatments without compromising quality.

  • 10 min

    From 199 British pounds

Alluzience is a ready-to-use liquid botulinum toxin type A — no reconstitution, no dilution, no variability. Where traditional botulinum toxins are supplied as a powder that must be mixed before use, Alluzience arrives in a precisely formulated liquid state, delivering a more consistent dose every single time.

The clinical difference patients notice most is longevity. Alluzience is clinically proven to last up to six months — significantly longer than standard botulinum toxins, which typically require repeat treatment at three to four months. For patients who want fewer appointments without compromising on results, Alluzience is the logical choice.

Onset is rapid — most patients notice results within two to three days, with full effect established by day seven. The aesthetic result is smooth, natural and controlled — the same standard you expect from Sebastian Rose, with the added benefit of extended duration.

Alluzience is available at Sebastian Rose as an alternative to Azzalure for suitable patients. Your practitioner will advise which product is most appropriate for your treatment areas and goals at consultation.

We only offer botulinum toxins we have thoroughly researched and chosen with confidence — read our blog to find out more about the products we use and why - and why we don't use Relfydess by clicking here.

azzalure.jpg

Azzalure® - A premium European botulinum toxin offering precise, natural wrinkle reduction with excellent diffusion for smooth, even results across treatment areas. Trusted efficacy, refined outcomes.

Azzalure is one of the most established and widely used botulinum toxin type A products in the UK, with an outstanding safety record built over more than a decade of clinical use. It is an MHRA-licensed prescription medicine, manufactured by Ipsen and distributed in the UK by Galderma — one of the most respected names in medical aesthetics globally. As a Galderma registered partner, Sebastian Rose has direct access to authenticated, verified product at all times.

Azzalure works by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that cause targeted facial muscles to contract — softening expression lines and preventing the repeated muscle movements that deepen wrinkles over time. The result is a refreshed, natural appearance that does not compromise facial expression or movement when administered correctly by an experienced medical practitioner.

Treatment takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes with no downtime. Results typically appear within three to five days and reach full effect at 21 days, lasting three to four months on average. With consistent treatment over time, many patients find results last progressively longer as the treated muscles naturally reduce in activity.

Azzalure is the botulinum toxin we reach for most often at Sebastian Rose — a product we know, trust and have used thousands of times.

Every treatment is performed by NMC or GMC-registered medical professionals using authenticated, MHRA-licensed product sourced exclusively from verified UK distributing pharmacies.

advancedbotox.jpg

Harnessing botulinum toxin's therapeutic properties, we treat conditions including blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm, chronic migraines, bruxism (teeth grinding), hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), and more. These evidence-based treatments offer clinically-proven relief for medical concerns while also providing aesthetic benefits like masseter reduction for facial slimming and non-surgical nose refinement.

Botulinum toxin is one of the most clinically versatile prescription medicines available — and anti-wrinkle injections represent only a fraction of what it can achieve. At Sebastian Rose we offer the full range of advanced botulinum toxin applications, each delivered by medically qualified, NMC and GMC-registered practitioners with the clinical background to assess, prescribe and treat safely.

Bruxism & Teeth Grinding

Botulinum toxin injected into the masseter muscle significantly reduces the force of involuntary jaw clenching, protecting teeth, reducing jaw pain and — as a welcome aesthetic benefit — gradually slimming the lower face for a softer, more oval facial profile.

Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating)

Injections into the axillae (armpits), palms or soles block the nerve signals that trigger eccrine sweat glands, dramatically reducing excessive sweating for six to twelve months. Clinically proven and life-changing for those who have not responded to topical treatments.

Chronic Migraines

Botulinum toxin is an established and MHRA-approved treatment for chronic migraine, defined as fifteen or more headache days per month. Treatment involves multiple injection sites across the head and neck and typically reduces migraine frequency significantly within the first treatment cycle.

Blepharospasm & Hemifacial Spasm

Uncontrolled eyelid twitching or involuntary facial muscle spasms respond well to precisely placed botulinum toxin injections, providing sustained relief and restoring confidence and comfort.

Non-Surgical Nose Refinement

Small doses of botulinum toxin at the nasal tip can lift a drooping nose tip and reduce the appearance of a prominent nasal hump — a subtle but effective non-surgical alternative to rhinoplasty for the right patient.

Nefertiti Neck Lift

Injections along the jawline and into the platysmal bands of the neck lift and define the jaw, smooth neck bands and restore a more youthful lower face and neck contour without surgery or downtime.

Gummy Smile Correction

Precisely placed injections relax the muscles that cause excessive gum exposure when smiling, creating a more balanced, confident smile in minutes.

And many more indications, including nose slimming, lip flip, eyelid ptosis treatment. Ask us if you are looking for a botox treatment but can't find it here, we most likely offer it!

All advanced botulinum toxin treatments require a consultation at least 48 hours before treatment as a legal requirement. A medical history review is mandatory. Book a free consultation to discuss which treatment is right for you.

Microtox / Korean Skin Botox

Achieve coveted Korean "glass skin" with Microtox - superficial botulinum toxin injections that refine pores, control oil, and improve skin texture without freezing expression. This advanced technique targets oil glands and superficial muscles for an airbrushed, luminous complexion. Ideal for oily skin, enlarged pores, and K-beauty perfection. Results last 3-4 months.

Microtox — also known as Korean skin botox — is one of the most requested treatments at Sebastian Rose, and one of the most misunderstood. It is not anti-wrinkle treatment. It does not freeze muscles or alter facial expression. Microtox involves the intradermal injection of highly diluted botulinum toxin across the surface of the skin, targeting the superficial muscles, sebaceous glands and eccrine sweat glands responsible for enlarged pores, excess oil, skin texture irregularities and the subtle dimpling that prevents skin from looking truly smooth.

The result — when done correctly — is the Korean glass skin effect: refined pores, controlled sebum, a visible reduction in skin texture, and a luminous, airbrushed quality to the skin that no topical product can replicate. Results develop over seven to fourteen days and typically last three to four months.

What Microtox does not do is replace a properly built skincare foundation. We are honest with every patient about this: Microtox will not perform at its best — and its results will not last — on skin that is dehydrated, compromised, or poorly maintained at home. The patients who get the most from Microtox are those who already cleanse correctly, use a medical-grade retinoid, protect their skin with SPF daily, and have addressed any underlying skin concerns. If that foundation is not yet in place, our first recommendation will always be to build it — through our medical skincare range, a course of appropriate skin treatments, or both.

Microtox is a complement to good skin health, not a substitute for it. When the two work together, the results are exceptional.

A consultation is required before treatment. Microtox is not suitable for all skin types and an honest clinical assessment will always come first.

WHAT ARE ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS?

Anti-wrinkle injections use botulinum toxin type A — commonly known as Botox — to smooth lines, prevent wrinkles, and treat a wide range of medical and aesthetic concerns. At Sebastian Rose Medical Aesthetics in Cardiff, we offer the full spectrum of botulinum toxin treatments, from classic anti-wrinkle injections to advanced medical applications, using only MHRA-licensed formulations prescribed and administered by NMC and GMC-registered medical professionals.

WHAT BRANDS DO YOU USE AT SEBASTIAN ROSE CARDIFF?

bfaqs

WHAT BRANDS DO YOU USE AT SEBASTIAN ROSE CARDIFF?

We use Azzalure and Alluzience as our primary botulinum toxin formulations — both manufactured by Galderma and fully licensed by the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Azzalure

Delivers natural, precise results lasting three to four months with excellent diffusion properties for smooth, even outcomes across all standard treatment areas.

Alluzience

Our extended-duration option, clinically proven to last up to six months, ideal for patients seeking fewer appointments without compromising on results.

We have chosen these formulations because our extensive clinical experience consistently demonstrates superior outcomes compared to other market options.

For patients who have developed antibodies to other botulinum toxin formulations: Bocouture (Merz) is free of accessory proteins and may be recommended in these cases.

We also offer Botox (Allergan) on request.

All other MHRA-licensed brands are available on request.

BOTOX BRANDS — WHAT'S LEGAL AND WHAT'S NOT IN THE UK

bfaqs

BOTOX BRANDS — WHAT'S LEGAL AND WHAT'S NOT IN THE UK

Injectable botulinum toxin products currently licensed in the UK for aesthetic use are: Alluzience, Azzalure, Bocouture, Botox, Letybo, Nuceiva and Relfydess.

These are the only seven botulinum toxin formulations legally licensed by the MHRA specifically for cosmetic and aesthetic use in the UK. T

hey must be prescribed by a UK-registered independent prescriber and obtained through secure, regulated pharmaceutical supply chains.

Alluzience (Galderma) — Used at Sebastian Rose
Azzalure (Galderma/Ipsen) — Used at Sebastian Rose
Bocouture (Merz Aesthetics) — Available on request
Botox (Allergan/AbbVie) — Available on request
Letybo (Croma/Hugel) — Not used at Sebastian Rose
Nuceiva (Evolus) — Not used at Sebastian Rose

Relfydess (Galderma) — Not used at Sebastian Rose. Licensed in January 2025 and currently under additional MHRA monitoring. Real-world post-market data beyond phase 3 clinical trials remains limited. We have reviewed Galderma's clinical data and concluded that demonstrated efficacy does not yet justify introducing a newly-launched product when we have established, proven alternatives with extensive safety profiles. We will continue to monitor post-market surveillance data before considering offering Relfydess to our patients.

Read more about our position in our blog.

IMPORTANT:

Dysport and Xeomin are NOT licensed for aesthetic or cosmetic use in the UK. Dysport is the therapeutic/medical-use version of Azzalure. Xeomin is the therapeutic/medical-use version of Bocouture. Any practitioner using Dysport or Xeomin for cosmetic purposes is operating outside the law.

UNLICENSED AND ILLEGAL BOTOX IN THE UK

bfaqs

Despite clear MHRA regulations, unlicensed botulinum toxin products are being illegally imported and administered across the UK.

Between 4 June and 6 August 2025, 41 confirmed cases of botulism were reported in England, with investigations showing the majority of individuals received products that are unlicensed for use in the UK, with 8 patients requiring intensive care.

Common unlicensed brands circulating illegally in the UK include:

Botulax (South Korea)
reNTox / Rentox (South Korea)
Innotox (South Korea)
Toxpia (South Korea)
Meditoxin (South Korea)
Nabota (South Korea)
Neuronox (South Korea)
Coretox (South Korea)
Relatox (South Korea)
Reotox (South Korea)
Cunox (China)
BTXA (China)

Dysport when used for cosmetic purposes
Xeomin when used for cosmetic purposes
Various counterfeit, unbranded or misbranded products

All of these products are not licensed, and have caused harm.

WHY THIS MATTERS — THE DANGERS OF BLACK MARKET BOTOX

bfaqs

Not MHRA-approved for cosmetic use

Sourced outside legitimate pharmaceutical distribution — storage, handling and authenticity cannot be verified

Risk of counterfeit, contaminated, diluted, expired or improperly stored product

No UK batch traceability or MHRA Yellow Card adverse event reporting

Illegal prescribing — botulinum toxin is a prescription-only medicine requiring a UK-registered independent prescriber

Not sourced from GPhC-registered UK pharmacies

No product liability insurance — patients have no legal recourse if complications arise

Criminal offence — supply of unlicensed botulinum toxin carries up to two years imprisonment and unlimited fines under the Human Medicines Regulations 2012

Life-threatening complications — 41 individuals left seriously ill, 8 requiring intensive care in summer 2025

RED FLAGS — HOW TO SPOT ILLEGAL BOTOX

bfaqs

Be extremely wary if:

Prices are significantly lower than established medical clinics

The practitioner won't specify which MHRA-licensed brand they use

They mention Korean brands, Chinese brands or "pharmaceutical grade from abroad"

Treatment is offered in a home, hotel, salon or mobile setting

The practitioner is not GMC, NMC, GDC or GPhC-registered

No face-to-face consultation or medical history is taken

The brand name is not on the seven MHRA-licensed aesthetic list

You are told "it's the same as Botox" or "it's what they use in Korea"

No prescription is issued

Social media offers with "DM for prices" or cash-only payment

Batch numbers, expiry dates or pharmacy source cannot be provided

The practitioner mentions using Dysport or Xeomin for cosmetic wrinkle treatment

WHY WE ONLY USE MHRA-LICENSED BRANDS AT SEBASTIAN ROSE

bfaqs

Patient safety is non-negotiable. We exclusively use Azzalure and Alluzience — both fully MHRA-licensed for UK aesthetic use, sourced only from GPhC-registered UK pharmacies, prescribed by NMC and GMC-registered medical professionals, delivered through secure pharmaceutical supply chains, fully traceable with batch numbers and expiry dates, and covered by comprehensive clinical indemnity insurance.

You deserve to know exactly what is being injected, where it came from, who prescribed it, and that it meets the highest UK safety and legal standards. We will never compromise on this.

WHAT IS MICROTOX / KOREAN SKIN BOTOX?

bfaqs

Microtox — also called Skin Botox or Korean Glass Skin Botox — uses highly diluted botulinum toxin injected superficially into the skin rather than the underlying muscles. This targets the sebaceous glands and superficial musculature responsible for enlarged pores, excess oil production and skin texture irregularities. The result is refined pores, controlled sebum, improved skin texture and the luminous glass-skin effect associated with Korean aesthetics — without affecting facial expression or muscle movement. Results typically last three to four months.

WHAT IS TRAPTOX — BARBIE BOTOX?

bfaqs

TrapTox involves injecting botulinum toxin into the trapezius muscle across the upper back and shoulders. This creates a visually elongated, more elegant neckline and shoulder contour, reduces chronic neck and shoulder tension, and can provide significant relief from trapezius-related headaches. Results typically last three to four months. Correct dosing based on individual anatomy is essential — a consultation is required before treatment.

WHAT IS THE NEFERTITI LIFT?

bfaqs

platysmal bands of the neck to lift and define the lower face, smooth neck bands and restore a more youthful jaw and neck contour — without surgery or downtime. Named after the Egyptian queen renowned for her elongated, elegant neck, it is one of the most effective non-surgical jawline treatments available.

WHAT IS A LIP FLIP?

bfaqs

A lip flip uses a small amount of botulinum toxin injected into the orbicularis oris muscle just above the upper lip, causing the lip to gently roll outward and appear fuller — without adding volume through filler. It is subtle, natural and ideal for patients wanting slight enhancement rather than visible augmentation. Results last six to eight weeks. It can be combined with lip filler for a more pronounced result.

WHAT IS JAWLINE SLIMMING / MASSETER REDUCTION?

bfaqs

Botulinum toxin injected into the masseter muscle gradually reduces its size over four to six weeks, creating a slimmer, softer lower face and a more V-shaped or oval facial profile. It also significantly reduces the symptoms of bruxism and jaw clenching. Results last four to six months and progressively improve with repeated treatment as the muscle naturally reduces in activity over time.

WHAT IS BOTOX FOR MIGRAINES IN CARDIFF?

bfaqs

Botulinum toxin is an MHRA-approved treatment for chronic migraine — defined as fifteen or more headache days per month. Treatment involves multiple precisely placed injections across the head and neck and typically reduces migraine frequency significantly within the first treatment cycle. A written letter from your GP confirming a migraine diagnosis is required before treatment can proceed. Results are unpredictable and we follow the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines - though we have excellent results with most of our patients, botox for migraines can 'fail', as the pathway is not 100% established.

HOW DO ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS WORK?

bfaqs

Botulinum toxin temporarily blocks nerve signals to targeted facial muscles, reducing the movement that causes expression lines and wrinkles to form and deepen over time. For Microtox, superficial injection targets oil glands and pore-associated structures rather than deep muscles, improving skin quality without affecting facial expression.

HOW SOON WILL I SEE RESULTS?

bfaqs

Anti-wrinkle injections typically begin working within three to ten days, with full results visible at twenty-one days.

Microtox results often appear within seven to ten days.

Advanced treatments such as masseter reduction and TrapTox develop gradually over four to six weeks as the targeted muscles reduce in size and activity.

HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?

bfaqs

Azzalure

Three to four months. However, Patients may 'feel' it lasts longer, though the clinical effects have 'worn off' - this is typically due to good muscle and skin tone in these patients.

Alluzience

Clinically proven to last up to six months.

Microtox / Korean Skin Botox

Three to four months Masseter Reduction / TrapTox: four to six months, improving progressively with repeated treatment

Hyperhidrosis

Six to twelve months

Migraines

Treatment cycles are typically every twelve weeks.

Regular treatments help maintain and improve outcomes over time, and many patients find they can extend time between appointments as treatment continues.

HOW LONG DOES TREATMENT TAKE?

bfaqs

About fifteen minutes. And most of that is spent completing the consent form.

IS BOTOX PAINFUL?

bfaqs

We use ultra-fine specialised needles and expert injection technique to ensure treatment is as comfortable as possible. The majority of patients report minimal to no discomfort.

Many clients who have experienced discomfort at other clinics report that treatment at Sebastian Rose is significantly more comfortable.

HOW MANY AREAS DO I NEED?

bfaqs

Standard treatment areas are:

Frown lines (glabella)

1 area

Forehead lines

2 areas

Crow's feet

1 area (both eyes treated together)

Most patients treat all three areas together for balanced, natural results.

Important: The forehead cannot be treated in isolation without also treating the frown lines. Treating the forehead alone removes the elevator muscle function without balancing the depressor muscles, which creates a heavy, dropped brow appearance, hence the reason we treat the 'two areas' for the forehead.

We will always advise you on the correct combination for your anatomy at consultation.

Advanced treatments — Microtox, TrapTox, masseter reduction, medical applications — are priced separately based on treatment area and clinical complexity.

HOW MUCH DOES BOTOX COST IN CARDIFF?

bfaqs

All prices are published transparently.

We do not operate a "DM for prices" model.

bfaqs

Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment Avoid ibuprofen and aspirin for 24 hours before treatment

Arrive without makeup if possible

Ensure your consultation has been completed at least 48 hours before your first botulinum toxin treatment — this is a legal prescription requirement

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?

bfaqs

Immediately after injection, treated areas may show minor redness or small raised bumps at injection sites — this resolves within minutes to one hour and is completely normal.

Results then develop gradually over the following seven to twenty-one days depending on treatment type.

Anti-wrinkle injections are a true lunchtime treatment.

You must remain upright for 4 hours following treatment, avoid touching the treated area for the rest of the day, and avoid exercise for 24 hours. Moving the treated muscles for the initital ten minutes after treatment is also beneficial - we often advise our patients to reptitively smile and frown as they leave the clinic!
