A NOTE ON FILLER SAFETY IN THE UK
The UK is one of the last countries in the world to adequately regulate dermal filler. Hyaluronic acid filler remains accessible to untrained individuals — meaning anyone, regardless of qualifications, can legally inject it. Of the hundreds of filler brands available on the UK market, only a fraction hold FDA or MHRA regulatory approval. Cheaper filler is not safer filler. It is frequently less pure, less consistent and more likely to cause complications.
We use only FDA-licensed products sourced from verified UK pharmaceutical distributors. Every product we use has followed stringent clinical testing and is CE marked. We will never compromise on this, regardless of cost or commercial pressure.

What dermal filler do you use in Cardiff?
We use premium FDA-licensed hyaluronic acid fillers — primarily Restylane (Galderma) and Teosyal (Teoxane), as well as other premium brands. What we choose is in accordance to you as an individual, and the area or areas being treated. All brands have extensive clinical safety data, decades of real-world use and are sourced exclusively through verified UK pharmaceutical distributors. We select the specific product, viscosity and volume for each treatment area based on individual clinical assessment.
Is dermal filler safe?
Hyaluronic acid dermal filler is one of the safest injectable treatments available when administered correctly by a qualified medical professional using licensed products. HA is a substance naturally found in the body, allergic reactions are extremely rare, and the treatment is fully reversible using hyaluronidase. Risks — including bruising, swelling and the extremely rare but serious risk of vascular occlusion — are discussed in full at your appointment. We hold reversal agents on site and are trained to recognise and manage all complications.
Do I need a consultation?
Dermal filler is not a prescription-only medicine, so a pre-treatment consultation is not a legal requirement. However, we carry out a thorough clinical assessment at every appointment to ensure the treatment is right for you, your anatomy and your goals.
How long does dermal filler last?
It depends on the area treated and the product used. In the lips and superficial areas, HA filler typically lasts six to nine months. In the cheeks and jaw, nine to twelve months or longer. Biostimulatory fillers such as Sculptra last two to three years.
Can dermal filler be dissolved?
Yes. All hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be safely dissolved using hyaluronidase. This is one of the most important reasons to use only HA filler — and to ensure your practitioner holds reversal agents on site. We also offer a dissolving service for patients that have had dermal filler elsewhere, and wish to have it corrected.
Does it hurt?
Dermal filler treatment should not be painful. We use topical numbing cream as standard, and injectable anaesthetic (dental block) is available for more sensitive areas including the lips.
