CHEMICAL PEELS CARDIFF

MEDICAL GRADE SKIN RESURFACING AT SEBASTIAN ROSE

Chemical peels are one of the oldest and most clinically evidenced treatments in aesthetic medicine — and in 2026, with advanced formulations that deliver genuine results without the weeks of recovery associated with older deep peels, they deserve far more attention than they receive.

At Sebastian Rose we offer a carefully curated range of medical-grade peels — chosen not because they are the most marketed but because they are the most clinically effective for the skin concerns our patients present with. Every peel in our range serves a specific clinical purpose. We will always advise which peel is most appropriate for your skin at consultation — and we will never apply a peel without fully assessing your skin type, Fitzpatrick classification, active skin conditions and treatment history.

All peels at Sebastian Rose are performed by NMC and GMC-registered medical professionals. Not beauty therapists. Not aestheticians. Medical professionals with the training, clinical judgment and emergency protocols to make every peel as safe as it is effective.

BIOREPEEL CL3 — ADVANCED TCA PEEL

chemicalpeelcardiff_edited.jpg

BIOREPEEL CL3 FND — THE PEEL THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

35% TCA for face, neck and décolletage. 50% TCA for body. No downtime. No frosting. No preparation. No seasonal restrictions. BioRePeel delivers the clinical depth of a medium TCA peel with the recovery time of a lunchtime facial — for virtually every patient, every concern and every time of year. Select face or body at booking.

BIOREPEEL CL3 — HOW IT WORKS

BioRePeel CL3 is an Italian-developed biphasic medical device containing TCA as its primary active ingredient alongside lactobionic acid, salicylic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid, GABA and a comprehensive amino acid complex. The biphasic formula separates into two simultaneous phases: a lipophilic phase that delivers TCA deep into the epidermis to resurface, exfoliate and stimulate collagen and elastin production; and a hydrophilic phase that simultaneously hydrates, nourishes and protects the skin throughout. Medium peel depth. Zero downtime.

Traditional TCA peels at this concentration require weeks of skin preparation, cause visible frosting and produce significant post-treatment peeling and photosensitivity. BioRePeel does none of these things. Patients leave the clinic with glowing skin — not red, raw or peeling.

BIOREPEEL FND — FACE, NECK & DÉCOLLETAGE (35% TCA)

Fine lines and wrinkles

Active acne and congestion

Acne scarring, enlarged pores

Hyperpigmentation

Sun damage

Dull or tired skin

Overall skin quality.

Can be performed immediately before Botox or filler as a premium skin preparation step.

BIOREPEEL BODY (50% TCA)

Stretch marks, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, body acne scarring, rough or uneven body skin texture, dark marks on elbows and knees, pigmentation and sun damage on hands and forearms. Body skin requires the higher 50% concentration to penetrate its thicker, less vascular structure effectively.

GABA

BioRePeel contains GABA — gamma-aminobutyric acid — which relaxes the superficial musculature responsible for expression lines, giving BioRePeel a mild anti-wrinkle action that no other chemical peel delivers.

RESULTS

Immediate radiance and skin quality improvement from session one. Progressive improvement in texture, scarring and pigmentation over 4 weeks as collagen production builds. Course of 4–6 sessions spaced 7–14 days apart recommended for optimal results.

OBAGI BLUE PEEL RADIANCE

chemicalpeeltreatmentcardiff.jpg

OBAGI BLUE PEEL RADIANCE — BRIGHTENING, TIGHTENING, CLARIFYING

The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is a salicylic acid-based superficial peel that brightens, tightens and clarifies the skin in a single 30-minute appointment. One of the most recognisable peels in medical aesthetics — trusted by practitioners and patients alike for its consistent, immediately visible results and excellent safety profile across all skin types.

OBAGI BLUE PEEL RADIANCE — SALICYLIC ACID SKIN BRIGHTENING CARDIFF

Obagi Blue Peel Radiance uses salicylic acid — a beta-hydroxy acid — as its primary active ingredient. Salicylic acid is oil-soluble, which means it penetrates through the sebum in follicles and pores rather than sitting on the surface, making it uniquely effective at clearing congestion, reducing oiliness and refining pore appearance while simultaneously exfoliating the skin surface.

Unlike glycolic and lactic acid peels which are water-soluble and work primarily on the skin surface, salicylic acid works from the inside of the pore outward — making it the most clinically appropriate peel for oily, acne-prone and congested skin and an excellent brightening treatment for patients with mild pigmentation or uneven skin tone.

WHAT IT TREATS

Acne and congested pores.

Oily skin and enlarged pores.

Mild pigmentation and uneven skin tone.

Dull or lacklustre complexion.

Fine surface lines.

Mild sun damage.

General skin brightening and clarification.

RESULTS

Immediately tighter, brighter, more refined skin visible from the first session. Results build progressively across a course of 4–6 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart.

DOWNTIME

Minimal. Some patients experience light flaking 24–48 hours post-treatment. No significant redness or visible peeling.

Safe for all skin types. Can be used all year round.

THERADERM JESSNER'S PEEL

jessnerspeelcardiff_edited.jpg

THERADERM JESSNER'S PEEL — THE GOLD STANDARD FOR ACNE AND OILY SKIN

The Jessner's peel is one of the most clinically established peels in aesthetic medicine — a precisely balanced combination of salicylic acid, lactic acid and resorcinol that penetrates sebum-filled pores to clear congestion, reduce active acne and resurface oily or combination skin. The go-to peel for patients with persistent breakouts, blackheads and congested skin that hasn't responded to topical treatment.

THERADERM JESSNER'S PEEL — HOW IT WORKS

The Jessner's solution combines three active acids in a precise ratio that has remained clinically validated for decades. Salicylic acid penetrates the sebaceous follicle, dissolving the lipid bonds that hold pore-blocking debris in place — making it uniquely effective for oily and acne-prone skin. Lactic acid exfoliates the surface layer of dead skin cells while hydrating the skin, improving tone and texture. Resorcinol disrupts the bonds between keratinised skin cells to promote even, controlled peeling and resurfacing.

Together these three acids produce a superficial-to-medium depth peel that is particularly effective for active acne, blackheads, congested skin, mild pigmentation and oily or combination skin types.

WHAT IT TREATS

Active acne and breakouts.

Blackheads and congested pores.

Oily and combination skin.

Mild acne scarring.

Uneven skin texture.

Mild pigmentation.

Dull or rough skin.

DOWNTIME

Some visible flaking and mild peeling is expected 2–5 days after treatment — more than with BioRePeel or Fillmed peels. Patients should plan accordingly. SPF 50 is essential post-treatment.

Course of 4–6 sessions recommended spaced 2–4 weeks apart.

CHEMICAL PEELS CARDIFF FAQ'S

WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

A chemical peel is a medical-grade treatment in which an acid solution is applied to the skin to dissolve the bonds between dead and damaged skin cells, triggering controlled exfoliation and stimulating the skin's natural regeneration processes. As the treated cells shed, fresher, healthier skin is revealed — and the wound-healing response triggers new collagen and elastin production in the deeper layers. At Sebastian Rose, all peels are performed by NMC and GMC-registered medical professionals using clinically proven formulations.

WHICH PEEL IS RIGHT FOR ME?

This depends on your skin type, primary concern and how much downtime you can accommodate. As a guide: BioRePeel CL3 is our most versatile peel — suitable for almost every concern including anti-ageing, acne, pigmentation and body treatments, with zero downtime. The Theraderm Jessner's Peel is the strongest choice for active acne, blackheads and oily or congested skin, but does involve 2–5 days of visible peeling. The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is a salicylic acid brightening peel ideal for pore refinement, mild pigmentation and general skin clarity with minimal downtime. We will always assess your skin and recommend the most appropriate peel at consultation.

DO CHEMICAL PEELS HURT?

Most patients experience mild tingling or warmth during application — not pain. BioRePeel CL3 is virtually painless. The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance produces mild tingling that resolves quickly. The Theraderm Jessner's Peel may cause a more noticeable tingling or light stinging sensation during application that settles within minutes. None of our peels require anaesthetic.

HOW MUCH DOWNTIME IS THERE?

BioRePeel CL3 and Obagi Blue Peel Radiance have minimal to no downtime — patients return to normal activities immediately. The Theraderm Jessner's Peel causes visible flaking and peeling for 2–5 days following treatment. We will always advise you in advance of exactly what to expect from your chosen peel so you can plan accordingly.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?

A course of 4–6 sessions is recommended for all three peels to achieve optimal, lasting results. Single sessions are available and produce visible improvement — ideal as a skin preparation treatment before an event, or combined with other clinic treatments. BioRePeel sessions are spaced 7–14 days apart. Jessner's and Obagi Blue Peel Radiance sessions are typically spaced 2–4 weeks apart to allow full recovery between treatments.

HOW SOON WILL I SEE RESULTS?

BioRePeel CL3 produces immediately visible improvement in radiance and skin quality from the first session, with progressive improvement in texture, scarring and pigmentation continuing for up to four weeks as collagen production builds. The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance delivers tighter, brighter skin visible within days of treatment. The Theraderm Jessner's Peel results become visible once the post-treatment peeling has resolved — typically 5–7 days after treatment.

CAN CHEMICAL PEELS BE COMBINED WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?

Yes. BioRePeel CL3 can be performed immediately before Botox or dermal filler treatments as a premium skin preparation step. All three peels can be combined with microneedling for enhanced penetration and amplified results — either in the same appointment or as part of a planned treatment programme. We will advise the optimal combination protocol for your skin at consultation.

ARE CHEMICAL PEELS SAFE FOR DARKER SKIN TONES?

BioRePeel CL3 and Obagi Blue Peel Radiance are both safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types when applied correctly by a qualified practitioner. The Theraderm Jessner's Peel requires more careful assessment for darker skin tones due to the potential for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — we will always assess your Fitzpatrick classification before recommending this peel. We will never apply any treatment that carries a pigmentation risk without appropriate precautions and full clinical assessment.

CAN CHEMICAL PEELS BE USED IN SUMMER?

BioRePeel CL3 and Obagi Blue Peel Radiance can both be used all year round including summer — neither causes photosensitivity. The Theraderm Jessner's Peel can also be performed in summer with strict SPF 50 compliance post-treatment. SPF 50 is non-negotiable after any chemical peel regardless of the time of year.

WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE A PEEL?

Stop all AHAs, BHAs and retinoids 5 days before treatment. Avoid alcohol 24 hours before. Arrive without makeup. Inform us of any active skin infections, cold sores, recent laser treatments or known aspirin or salicylic acid allergy. No skin preparation programme is required before BioRePeel — unlike traditional TCA peels.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER A PEEL?

Apply SPF 50 every morning without exception. Keep skin hydrated with a gentle moisturiser. Avoid AHAs, BHAs, retinoids and all active skincare for 5 days. Avoid heat including saunas, steam rooms and hot showers for 48 hours. Avoid waxing, laser hair removal and other skin treatments for 14 days. Do not pick or forcibly remove any flaking skin — allow it to shed naturally.

WHO IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CHEMICAL PEELS?

Chemical peels are not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection or open wound in the treatment area, have a known allergy to salicylic acid or aspirin, or have a chronic inflammatory skin condition such as active eczema or psoriasis in the treatment zone. We assess every patient fully before any peel treatment.

WHERE ARE CHEMICAL PEELS PERFORMED IN CARDIFF?
