For comparison, surgical rhinoplasty in the UK usually costs several thousand pounds and needs general anaesthetic and time off work. The two treatments do different things, which the table below sets out.
WHAT IS A NON-SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY?
A non-surgical rhinoplasty, also called a liquid nose job or nose filler, uses dermal filler to change the shape of the nose without surgery. Small amounts of filler are placed along the bridge and at the tip, which changes how light falls across the nose and how the profile reads from the side.
It's one of the most technically demanding treatments in aesthetics, because the blood supply to the nose is unforgiving of filler placed in the wrong plane. That's why it should only be done by an experienced medical injector who can recognise and treat a complication.
WHAT IT CAN AND CAN'T CHANGE

WHAT TO EXPECT
Our consultation
We look at your nose from every angle, talk through what's realistic and what isn't, and check your medical history. If we don't think filler will give you what you want, we'll say so.
On the day
The area is cleansed, then filler is placed precisely, and the appointment takes around 30 minutes. You'll see a change straight away.
Afterwards
Swelling and tenderness are normal for a few days, and bruising is possible. Avoid glasses resting on the treated area, heavy exercise and facials for the first week. Sleep on your back if you can.
WHY THE INJECTOR MATTERS MORE THAN THE TREATMENT
Non-surgical rhinoplasty has a reputation as a risky treatment. The risk is real, but it sits with the person holding the syringe rather than the treatment itself. The nose has a rich blood supply and very little room for error, and safety comes from knowing that anatomy in detail, from judging what a particular nose can take, and from recognising a problem immediately if one arises.
That's the part that varies enormously between clinics, and it isn't something you can see from a price list.

WHO IT ISN'T SUITABLE FOR
We don't treat anyone who has had surgical rhinoplasty, because surgery alters the blood supply in ways that can't be predicted from the outside. It also isn't suitable if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, under 18, have an infection in the area, or have had filler placed in the nose elsewhere that we haven't assessed. Some medical conditions and medicines need checking first.

How much is nose filler in the UK?
Prices vary widely by clinic and by who is injecting. Ours is £299. A very low price usually means an inexperienced injector, which matters more in the nose than anywhere else on the face.
How long does a non-surgical rhinoplasty last?
Usually months rather than years, and it varies from person to person depending on the filler used, the area treated and your metabolism. We'll give you a realistic idea at your consultation.
Does it hurt?
Most people find it very manageable. The filler itself contains a local anaesthetic, and the treatment is quick. You'll feel pressure, and there can be a brief sharp sensation. We don't use numbing cream on the nose.
Is there any downtime?
Most people return to work the same day. Swelling and tenderness are normal for a few days, and bruising is possible.
Can nose filler make my nose smaller?
It can make a nose look smaller, without physically reducing it. Smoothing a bump and lifting the tip straightens the profile, and a straight nose reads as smaller and more refined than one with a hump, even though nothing has been taken away. What filler can't do is reduce the actual size of the nose or narrow the nostrils. If that's what you want, surgery is the honest answer.
Is a liquid nose job safe?
The nose is often described as one of the highest-risk areas for dermal filler because of its blood supply. In practice the risk depends far more on the knowledge, skill and experience of the person holding the needle than on the treatment itself. Swelling and bruising are common and settle on their own. Rarely, filler can block a blood vessel, which needs immediate treatment, so it should only be done by a medical professional trained to recognise and manage that.
Can it be reversed?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved if you don't like the result, and dissolving agent is used immediately if a blood vessel is blocked. One thing to be clear about: blindness is a rare but recognised complication of filler anywhere on the face, and there is no published case worldwide of it being reversed by hyaluronidase. Anyone telling you otherwise is misinformed. That's exactly why the emphasis belongs on avoiding it in the first place, through anatomical knowledge and judgement, rather than on fixing it afterwards.
Can I have it if I've had a nose job before?
No, and that's a clinical decision rather than a limitation. Surgery alters the blood supply to the nose in ways that can't be predicted from the outside, so the usual anatomical landmarks no longer tell you what's underneath. Injecting filler into a nose like that risks serious complications, including blindness. Knowing when not to treat is part of the skill. Some clinics will take these cases on, and if you're offered treatment on an operated nose elsewhere, ask what makes it safe in your case.
What is a tip lift?
It's a small amount of filler used to lift a drooping nasal tip, sometimes called a Tinkerbell lift. It can be done on its own or as part of a full non-surgical rhinoplasty.
How soon will I see the result?
Straight away, though the nose will be swollen at first. The settled result is usually clear within a week or two.
