The tear trough is the groove running between the lower eyelid and the cheek. As midface volume is lost, that groove deepens and casts a shadow — which is why the under-eye area looks tired regardless of how well you've slept. Precisely placed dermal filler restores volume along the groove, softening the transition and lifting the shadow. IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU? Tear trough filler treats hollowing. It does not treat under-eye bags. If your puffiness is herniated fat rather than a shadow cast by a hollow, filler will make it more prominent, not less. Telling these apart is the most important part of your consultation, and if filler isn't right for you, we will say so. The under-eye is delicate and well supplied with small vessels, so bruising is common — allow a fortnight before any event. Mild swelling settles over one to two weeks. Filler here lasts longer than elsewhere on the face, often 18 months or more, because the area moves very little. Reviewed two to three weeks after treatment.
