CLEANSERS — BUY MEDICAL-GRADE FACIAL CLEANSERS ONLINE UK

The first step of every routine, and the one that decides how well everything after it works.

BROWSE CLEANSERS

A good cleanser clears away oil, make-up, sunscreen and pollution without stripping the skin. Get it wrong and everything else struggles: a harsh cleanser leaves skin tight and irritated, and a weak one leaves residue that stops serums and treatments working properly.

How to choose a cleanser

Choose by skin type first. Dry or sensitive skin suits a cream or gentle gel that cleans without disturbing the barrier. Oily or breakout-prone skin suits a foaming or clarifying cleanser that clears pores. Dull or uneven skin benefits from a gently exfoliating cleanser used a few times a week.

The finder above matches our cleansers to each skin type. See our dryness and barrier and acne and congestion ranges for products that work alongside them.

Double cleansing

If you wear make-up or daily SPF, cleanse twice in the evening. Start with a cleansing oil to dissolve make-up and sunscreen, then follow with the cleanser for your skin type. In the morning, one cleanse is enough.

After clinic treatments

After peels, microneedling or skin boosters, switch to your gentlest cleanser for the first week and avoid exfoliating cleansers until your skin has settled. We'll give you specific aftercare advice at your appointment.

FAQs

Do I really need a medical-grade cleanser?

A good cleanser sets up the rest of your routine. Medical-grade cleansers are formulated to clean properly without stripping the skin, and some contain actives such as salicylic acid or AHAs for specific skin types.

Should I cleanse morning and night?

Yes. In the morning, a gentle cleanse removes oil and product from overnight. In the evening, cleansing removes make-up, sunscreen and the day's build-up, which matters most.

What is double cleansing?

Cleansing twice in the evening: first with a cleansing oil to dissolve make-up and SPF, then with the cleanser for your skin type. It's worth doing if you wear make-up or daily sunscreen.

Which cleanser is best for acne-prone skin?

A clarifying cleanser with exfoliating acids, such as Medik8 Clarifying Foam or Pore Cleanse Gel Intense, helps keep pores clear. Avoid harsh scrubs, which can make breakouts worse.

Can I use an exfoliating cleanser every day?

Most people do best using one two to four times a week, alternating with a gentle cleanser. If you use prescription retinoids or have sensitive skin, ask us before using one at all.

Which cleanser should I use after a clinic treatment?

Your gentlest cleanser, such as Medik8 Gentle Cleanse or Calmwise Soothing Cleanser, for at least the first week. Avoid exfoliating cleansers until your skin has settled.
